Find out why Harriet Beecher Stowe found it necessary to write a ‘key’ to Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
Uncle Tom’s Cabin, though abolitionist and written to show the horrors of slavery in America, is today often known for racist stereotypes as well as the author’s political stance. At the time of publication, it was condemned as slanderous in much of the American south. In this ‘Key’, Stowe presents the evidence that she used to write the novel and Chris Bamber will talk through some of the aspects of the book.
