Vashti Gbolugan Suwa is a writer who has written autobiographically and creatively about the impacts of Tin Mining in Nigeria, its impact on communities and nature.
In this workshop, Vashti will transport you through her autobiographical writing, videos, poetry, and photography to the Jos Plateau in Nigeria, where local people and nature live with the devastating results of an ecological and economic crisis, and she will inspire you with techniques for writing about the subjects that you are passionate about.
This workshop will particularly appeal to participants who are interested in responding creatively to their own lives, as Vashti will take you through practical ways to get started with your own autobiographical writing.
Festival of Libraries
Manchester City of Literature’s Festival of Libraries returns for 2025. This county-wide celebration of Greater Manchester’s 133 libraries takes place annually across the city. The festival, which is supported by Arts Council England, features a vibrant programme that highlights the library network’s full offer, across wellbeing, culture and creativity, digital and information, and, of course, reading.
